Hire AI employees that never miss a shift
Backbone sets up teams of virtual employees, called pods, that take the repetitive office, marketing and follow-up work off your plate. Your people stay in charge. The AI does the busywork.
What is an AI employee?
An AI employee is an AI agent set up to do one job for your business, the way you'd train a new hire. It has a job description, access only to the tools that job needs, your SOPs and past work to learn from, and a human it reports to.
One job, done well
Each AI employee has a single role, like ads, website updates or follow-up emails, so it gets good at that role instead of being a jack of all trades.
Works in your tools
It connects to the apps you already use, such as Gmail, Google Drive, Slack, Notion and Canva, and can run on a schedule.
Drafts first, you approve
Anything that sends a message, spends money or goes public is drafted for a person to approve before it goes out.
Build a pod: a small team with a human lead
A pod is a group of specialized AI employees that work together under one person on your team. The lead hands out the work, reviews drafts and signs off. The AI employees handle the research, the first drafts and the follow-through, and they can hand work to each other.

Custom Tools
We run our own agency this way. Our office team leads a pod of AI employees that build and update websites, run SEO audits, manage ad reports, edit content, build email lists and write code, so the office keeps moving even when the owner is out on a job or on a sales call.

We set it up on the platform that fits you
There's more than one way to run AI employees. We'll recommend one based on your team, your tools and how hands-on you want to be.
What we run on
Grok Bot
Team bots your whole staff can message, each with its own role. They connect to Gmail, Google Drive, Slack, Notion, Canva and more, run scheduled routines, and draft messages for approval. This is what powers our own pod.
Meta Muse
Meta's personal AI agent, launched in 2026. It runs on its own secure cloud computer with a browser, works in the Muse app or WhatsApp, and checks with you before sensitive actions like sending an email or making a purchase. A good fit for owners who live in their phone.
Hermes Agent (ChatGPT-model option)
A free, open-source agent from Nous Research that runs on your own computer or server. It can use OpenAI's GPT models (the ones behind ChatGPT) or other models, talks to you in Slack, WhatsApp, Telegram or email, remembers past work, and runs scheduled jobs. A good fit if you want to own the setup.
Each platform has its own plans and model costs. We'll walk you through them on the call.
How Backbone sets it up
- 1
Map the jobs
On a discovery call we list the tasks eating your week and pick the ones an AI employee should take first.
- 2
Get your info in order
We organize your Google Drive, build your Notion workspace with your SOPs, and set up your Canva brand kit so the AI has good material to work from.
- 3
Build the pod
We pick the platform, create each AI employee with its own job description, and connect only the tools it needs.
- 4
Set the guardrails
Messages, payments and anything public go out as drafts for your approval. You can see what each AI employee did.
- 5
Train your lead and tune
We train the person who runs the pod, then review results with you and adjust the roles as you go.
